Rage with Exactitude
(Emily Manger)

not your usual red sleeves-rolled-up angry

a purple angry

angry that wears pearls and lipstick

perhaps a deep maroon

not stamping feet on the floor

but nails on the marble

not kicking over life’s hurdles

but unscrewing them

with a daring laugh

a cutting smile

but no less angry

enraged; furious; livid, even!

makeup cracking,

molars tessellating

cheekbones sliding like ice floes

glacial eyes-flaring

glove-wrenching

hair-tearing

lip-curling

surgically precise

scaldingly enunciated

angry
