Adieu to 2020

Well I think we can all agree that 2020 has been quite the ride (and that’s putting it nicely!) This year has presented everyone — without exception — with challenges and opportunities for growth that we might otherwise have preferred to avoid. But, as Helen Keller said, ‘A happy life consists not in the absence, but in the mastery of hardships’.

And while we’ve all had ample opportunity to master our hardships this year, I think we now need, and deserve, a break.

That’s why, after five years working in a voluntary capacity as Verity La’s Managing Editor, I have decided to take six months off to recharge and recalibrate. I would like to thank our loyal readers, contributors, editors, board and advisory board members for their input, encouragement and support in creating a platform that’s showcased a truly exciting and exceptional array of voices. It takes a village to run a literary journal, and together we’ve created something remarkable.

So for now, adieu. We’ll return mid next year reenergised and renewed.

With best wishes, always
